The innovative set, first showcased at CES 2013 in Las Vegas, will cost €8,999 (about £7,733) and will available from select retailers in Germany from this week.

Pricey but not really a mass market item yet. This is for the early adopters.

I could maybe see it being good for immersion in particular types of gaming, but not in general tbh.

Perfect for flight sims or as you say immersive games but I think that the real selling point will be for widescreen films.

While OLED is a great technology with amazing colours it just cannot see the reasoning for curved screens. As the article says it might be because no other technology can do it. I suspect that by the time OLED TV is affordable that 4k might be the new standard. :?

As we sit on either side of the TV - we have two sofas facing each other, about 3 metres apart, set at a slight angle, with the TV off to one side in the middle - it wouldn't make any sense here.

I suspect for far too many people it would require a complete change in living room layouts. Just because you can do a curved screen does not mean that you should. Like you a flat screen is more important to me.

Is it just me or can you see the lines where they've joined 3 panels together?

The lighting on the Paperwhite is certainly uneven - not enough to be annoying, but not exactly good considering the cost.

I suspect more a matter of clearing all the surplus stock.

It could make insurance interesting if you have a car that is self driving so no risk of bad drivers getting behind the wheel. It could see premiums for driven cars as they could be a bigger risk.
