I have eight. Of those I would say that only one has been underused.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I am too lazy to even purchase most of those things, and what little of them I do have, I use reasonably well (ok, I haven't been to the gym in almost a year, but I promise I will go back soon!)

I wish my housemate would agree to throw away his stupid giant rowing machine - and I can dump about 7 computers at the same time.

I filled a wheely bin with books recently - and could do another (does Oxfam really want Karl Popper's The open society and its enemies - a book that exists basically to blame Plato for Hitler?)

It is good to note that self help books, although disturbingly oversold, and sensibly under-read.

When I see adverts for the latest kitchen gadget that slices/dices/hacks/chops/chips/whizzes etc., my first thought is that I have a couple of sharp knives that will do everything it can, and that they are far quicker to clean afterwards.

While I have 13 I do at least use them most of the time. I have a food mixer with the pasta maker and blender but I used them every couple of days. The blender and mixer were used yesterday and today respectively. The under used items are the fat reducing grill, food steamer and games console. Every thing else is at least used regularly.

I have 5 if you count my food processor as a mixer or blender. I use that every week, often more than once. I had a stick blender too, but I used it too much and it wore out.

My cookery books are very well thumbed. Although I use the internet a lot for recipes these days, I still flick through for inspiration some times.

I use the internet to the max.

My juicer sucks big time. It just doesn't do the job. Serves me right for buying such a cheap one, but I have an apple tree and really wanted one. The best ones are too damned big and expensive though, so I just buy juice.

My power tools I use when I need to. What counts as "underused" exactly?

6 and 4 are used on a daily or weekly basis, the rest several times a year. The fondue set is probably the least used, mainly for big family gatherings.

EBook reader is used every day, the kitchen utensils and cookery books several times a week. We cook most meals fresh.

How often do you need a power tool? It is there if you need it. Some items will be used more at some times during the year than others. My slow cooker is used regularly through the winter and barely touched during the summer.

I own 5 of these, and for me they are all essential even if some of them like the food mixer only get used once a year (to make the Christmas Cake). If any broke they would be replaced next time I needed to use it.
