While I think that greater awareness might be a good reason now. Though if this trend continues it might not be so good.

how can it not be good. Any statistics on a crime that by its very nature is very secretive and the victim's often do not report the offence are going to totally inaccurate. \all that is happening at the moment is there is more information about what has gone on.

It would mean that abuse was continuing not a matter of past events coming forward. Past incidents is one thing but new cases would be disturbing.
