I'd make them do the time in Peru too. Letting them serve it here would vastly reduce the deterant effect.

They may not be able to do their time here until they have done half their sentence in Peru. She is either coming to terms with her plight and is pragmatic about the time in jail. Even if you were innocent if you faced 8 years inside if found guilty it can make sense to plea bargain your way to a shorter sentence. If you are guilty then it makes even more sense.

They will still have to do their gaol time here no matter what they might want. At least their families will be able to visit them.
