Smaller, wipe-clean plastic banknotes could be introduced by the Bank of England from 2016, matching currency across the world.

The anti counterfeiting features are probably a good thing. For most people unless they fold up for wallets they will be problematic.

Apparently they cost more to make, but last much longer. You can leave them in your pocket while swimming etc.
Australia have had them for years.

I say go for it. If the £5 notes last longer, maybe banks will start giving them out in cash machines again.

Yes that is a plus. I only have chip and signature cards so have not used an ATM for decades.

The cash machine near me gives out £5 notes. It's rather annoying at times

Too late, it's already been decided.
Apparently Jane Austen will be on the next £10 note.
That's a shame. Not because I object to women on bank notes, but because I really like having Charles Darwin on them.
I find it funny that a ten dollar bill has the words 'in god we trust', whereas we have a picture of Charles Darwin.
My next choice of scientist would be Michael Faraday, but he's already been on a note.

They were crap.
The print on them started wearing off after not very long and is probably why they aren't in use any more.

I actually do not mind small denomination notes. If it is for something over a fiver I will use a higher note but under a fiver the fivers get used first.

The Isle of Man has plastic notes too.
Can't see a problem. Bring it on.

If it was a choice of plastic notes or none at all I would opt for plastic notes every time.
