'It's worse than that - he's dead, Jim!' 'Nekrolog, stardate...' As you say, cool word.

Yesterday, I learnt where the terms "stone deaf" and "not worth a light" or "not worth a candle" originate.
If a stone quarry was underground, most of the quarrymen would be deafened by the noise of getting the stone out of the ground.
In the olden days, before H&S or unions, you had to buy your own candles to light your day's work underground. Having laboured at cutting a chunk of stone out of the solid rock, you then had to wait for the man to come round and check it's usable as quality building material. If he taps it and it rings like a bell, you get paid. If it makes a dull thud, you don't get paid, and you're still out of pocket for your light.

Watched an episode of "The Upper Hand". There's a barmaid in the episode so I googled her. Turns out she was a topless glamour mode of the era.

There were quite a few who did the TV walk on during that period.

IIRC the woman who was part of 'the couple who are always having sex' in The Fast Show was a page 3 girl. I'd imagine Charlie Higson was quite happy to write those sketches.

Nope, Charlie Higson - fast forward to 7 minutes in here. Mark Williams was the neighbour who was always embarrassed by their antics. Hmm. According to wikipedia, their character names were 'Mr and Mrs. Shag'.

Not apparently but actually. A great loss to acting.

Despite being able to colour match their surroundings, cephalopods are colour blind.
