Start a new thread for a new Doctor. Anyway, looks like Capaldi’s first series may be delayed and shortened. Matt Smith spoilery link: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/28462/ ... -shortened

I really wouldn't bother, Mark. You don't learn anything, (it's not really a spoiler to say how many episodes may be in the next series) and does anyone really give a duck about Matt Smith's hair? Really?

What is with the current craze of 'rebooting' shows all the time?

If you're talking about Doctor Who, it's not being rebooted but with every regeneration, the doctor's personality changes and as such the dynamic of the programme will alter. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/29176/ ... ation-ruleI wonder what he means. Moffat is a wily scrote when it comes to messing with Who’s mythology. So, what have we missed? I still think Traken has something to do with this, you know.

I think looking like John Hurt’s Doctor is something I’ll have to cultivate as I get older.

This is just my opinion, (it's actually more an off the top of my head response than an opinion but you know what I mean) but he said twelve regenerations, not twelve doctors. The first doctor turning into the second would be the first regeneration... The maths do appear to make sense :/ Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk 4

Peter Davison seems to be a favourite amongst the writers of Who. There is that rather odd regeneration that invalid the Watcher merging with the Doctor’s body. I think Adric said something like “he was the Doctor all along” - so does that count as a regeneration?

They'll just come up with an excuse anyway. Something 'wibbly wobbly'.

It’s a kids’ show. Also, things like this are meant to challenge writers. The BBC won’t want to say “well, this is it - the last Doctor ever is.....” - too much of a money spinner for them now. I expect an ingenious solution to this problem.

First and foremost, that’s what it is, and that is what it has always been. With that in mind, flights of fancy, imaginative story telling and audience engagement should be right at the top of the list of things to do with the show. This gives the writers a lot of scope to bend the rules, and make sharp turns in ways that grown up telly may not. Who is not, therefore, constrained by its mythology in the same way Star Trek became. With Trek, the writers became so bogged down in the mire of decades of canon that it became hard to move. Who seems to nimbly dodge and simultaneously embrace the obstacles left by previous writers.

My wife has been invited to Ian Chestertons house, I think I'll be tagging along.
