I have better sound and better vision at home, i only go to the cinema if friends want to or I'm on my own in a city late at night, there's still something quite magical about the cinema late at night i think, that feeling of comign out of the cinema still thinking as if you're in the film, looking for spies/secret agents etc and smiling to yourself at how silly you are being.

It's not that I mind loud, particularly for an action flick, but IMAX took the proverbial wee-wee. It was genuinely uncomfortable and the wife almost left. It was a shame really because the screen was stunning. If I could have that but with the volume turned down a bit I'd be happy.

To me it feels wrong exiting the cinema in daylight. I can only imagine a film about escaping after being trapped underground would alter that and fit your description.

I also hate a cinema which is too loud, absolutely uncalled for. It would be interesting to know how loud they got. Any of you smartphone users fancy trying out a decimeter app next time you go, to compare screens?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

What kind of app only measures distances in multiples of 10cm?

Argo - Great actors, decent script, moves along quick enough... But there's absolutely no sense of consequence or danger somehow, and it's not just because you're likely to know the outcome anyway lol. It's more like a lavish TV drama. Mind you, that's true of most Oscar winners these days.

Parker - The dullest outing for this character yet. Honestly, even the robberies are boring

That's the one with Jason Statham?

Watched Unknown last night, starring Liam Neeson. Essentially Bourne Identity with none of the action. Also very much a sleeper film in that very little happens action wise until towards the end. I did find it interesting and intriguing to begin with, and quite a few twists but essentially became a little predictable.

3/5

re-watching Gangs of New York (because I recently watched "Lincoln" and felt like another DDL film.)

It's slightly better than I remember it being, but yeah the only bits worth watching really are the ones with DDL or Cameron Diaz in them for differing reasons.

Yeah, I wrote about it a few pages back. Not as good as the original Bourne movie with Richard Chamberlain, but I found it better than the Matt Damon films.

To graphic for my taste. The story is good, but I couldn't watch all of the violence.

Trance - Not bad at all, but it's the sort of thing you'll only ever watch once and the less you know about it the better! Give it a go if you're sick of the usual half-assed Hollywood fare.

I thought it was a bit ham-fisted and really dull, it didn't know what it wanted to be, it was a very weak action movie held together by awkward dialogue and some bad miscasting. A definite bum-note from Danny Boyle. It felt like a saturday night BBC1 action-drama with richer actors.

Tbf I deliberately avoided everything about it beforehand and went in not expecting much (the best you can do these days)

I saw it as more of a slow unraveling, though it's definitely McAvoy playing McAvoy as usual etc.

I agree, it did have a feeling of 'joint TV production' or something about it, but it was short enough as a result maybe, and in a good way to my mind. I suspect it was just the latest 'thing' Boyle thought he'd have a crack at.
