In all honesty, I toyed with the idea but haven't bothered with getting COD: Ghosts for the PS3. I'm so fazed with gaming at the mo that I barely bother. Some weeks I might play once or twice. What makes it really boring is that I've reached prestige master (so nothing really to aim for), and a lot of my friends have stopped playing online. At the most, there's only ever three of us. Compare that to the days when we had 8 or 10 and struggled to play as a team. It was more fun, and lots of banter which was more enjoyable than playing the game.
As it stands, I've got around £15 in Tesco clubcard vouchers, so may well buy the game for just £25.

+1 I thought that they were very similar systems so should be capable of playing games at roughly the same level?

They have similar CPUs and the same amount of memory, but the memory is arranged differently - basically, PS4 has one big lump of quite fast RAM, XB1 has one lump of slowish RAM with a smaller lump of very fast RAM - and the PS4's GPU is allegedly about 30% more powerful. Overall, the PS4 is a better design, even if the amount of silicon in them is roughly the same.

The reviews are actually honest for this latest instalment... I don't even care enough to rent it.

However the new PS4 cannot be used to stream media form your PC / NAS as the PS3 can which is one of its more useful features

Watched a comparison video showing Ghosts on current gen and next gen. I was surprised at how little difference there was so much so that if multiplayer is your thing I would opt for current gen - on the basis of more active players.

I bought CoD: Ghosts and kinda wished I hadn't.
Played MP for an hour-and-a-half last night and just didn't get on with it. It does feel like it's been made by IW. Just doesn't feel as polished as Treyarch's efforts with BLOPS 1&2.
The main issue I had was a glitch or lag that occurred whenever I tried to ADS (aim down sight) someone, or whenever someone shoots me. I can press the button to ADS and there's a lag and in that lag, I get killed by someone who's magically appeared (or worse, with bullets that appear to come round corners). The other is when I suddenly someone appears round the corner and shoots me. Neither occurs like a typical gaming lag, but actually felt like there was a problem with the game itself.
Otherwise, the game plays similar to MW3. You can have three kill packages - assault/support/special (or something like that), and support counts even when you've been killed. The UAV is a ground based satellite that can be shot with a gun. In some ways, it makes it fun but it does mean I don't need to run around with a launcher and hence use it against choppers and stuff. There's an ammo crate type thing which just gives new guns rather than killstreak weapons. The "orbital vsat" thing is a bit crap as it doesn't show the enemy on the uav map but sends out a "pulse" from your position every 15 seconds and reveals any nearby enemy.
Perks - there's I think six or so perk classifications along the lines of stealth, speed, awareness etc. Each class has five perks eg sleigh of hand, quickdraw etc. Those five perks carry "weight" so a low perk might carry a weight of 1 and a high might carry say 4. What this means is that you have a total of 8 slots and you could fill it with eight "low weight" perks, or two "high weight" perks. A bit strange and I guess they're copying the token system from BLOPS in some ways.
I'll play a bit more tonight and see what happens.

If you feel it's crap don't dither - take it back and say it's full of bugs, which it always is.

Well it seems like it was all down to gaming lag. I've since played and have found it to be more enjoyable. Still completely confused by the layout of the menus. Everything is so customisable it's OTT.
My gameplay is normally run'n'gun but I can't do that any more. Every time I move anywhere, I'm forced to check for potential enemies. It feels more realistic in terms of combat. The best bit is that team mates' characters now call things out like "enemy spotted on the ridge" (rather than team players themselves via mics) which makes it a but better.

I found MW3 and BO2's weapon options a right faff, I can do without that much choice, especially when it makes so little difference. I like the sound of the 'shout outs'.
