If they want to increase monthly debits or reduce minutes then you should be able to walk away and they should be obliged to open that contract handset as well, so you can go to a PAYG deal if you want.

I bought mine online so never worried about the lack or existence of a store. It was only last week that I discovered my first Three store so it might not be a problem. Ultimately though it might actually mean problems for phone resellers like Carphonewarehouse and Phones4U as people can look online and each network has its own chain of stores. Then add in comparison sites and what benefit are independent phone shops apart from the contribution they make to TV comedy?
