Fast And Furious star Paul Walker died earlier this evening after a car accident in Santa Clarita, California. Multiple reports indicate Walker, 40, was a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT that collided with a pole and caused a fire. Walker and the driver were both pronounced dead at the scene.

It didn't just 'hit' a pole, that must have really been moving when it hit.

RIP

Saw a TV news report. You'd barely recognise what was left as being 'a car'. Nobody was going to survive it. Very sad.

I hope they retire the films now. It would seem in extremely bad taste to carry on making a series of films that relies heavily on massive car crashes after the lead actor died in a massive car crash.

That will retire a number of careers as well.

A lot of that is fire damage rather than impact damage. There's a film online of just after the crash, and the car looks fairly intact.
I'm not up on the NCAP safety rating of the Porsche, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a little worse than say, a Volvo.
Accidents are always a combination of factors, clearly speed was one but I wonder what else went on.

Talk of scrapping the film altogether
