This is becoming a trend here - people I would not have considered doing so suddenly buying Macs.

It probably helps theres a slightly less antagonistic atmosphere here. No infamous 4 footers, less rabid trolling We are one big happy family the PC and Mac camps are less polarised at the moment, people have matured (some like cheese have just got smellier..saspro ). Long may it live. Now how can I persuade the wife that I really need that macbook

I bucked the trend and bought a PC laptop over the weekend.

Heh. Actually, Vista is as annoying as I remember Windows to be. It's quite usable though, especially now I've got some sensible browsers installed.

Wait until you see Windows 7 ! It's so much better than Vista.

So I hear. We'll wait and see what the prices pan out before we decide on that. Vista is pretty snappy on the box as it stands, and while it's annoyingly complex to do even simple tasks at times, it's adequate. Very pretty, in a Microsofty kind of way.

Details here, if you haven't heard them. Although the number of different versions still makes my head ache. I'm running the windows 7 release candidate and I find it to be an improvement on Vista in pretty much all departments. But I have always run Mac OS and Windows side by side so I'm kind of habituated to their respective foibles. I couldn't say if someone new to the Vista/windows 7 environment would see things the same way. Jon

I've always found Windows annoying, from Win95 on. We've been running XP Pro and Home on a couple of boxes. Vista has made some of it easier and shinier, but it still keeps getting in the way when you least expect it. Still, once you get it going it does what it says on the tin.

It's strange, but Windows 7 is my main motivation for buying a mac. It's that bad (IMHO).

Nah, I think it's just the heat. It does funny things to people.
(No prospective mac purchases here, not that I have that sort of money anyway)

I want to get one, even if it's just the Mini, wouldn't mind an iMac though, but I've got so much other stuff to pay for right now.
