The attacks on the BBC are more because they want to use if for their own propaganda rather than report the news. It is why they are freeIng the license fee with threats of worse to come. It does not matter that there is a Tory as head of the Governors it is not right wing enough.

The BBC has been harassed by Governments pretty much since the day after it stopped just repeating what the government told it to. The New Labour government was just as bad as the current mob. The problem is the Beeb used to be run by people with a backbone who would happily tell our Honourable Friends to go fly a kite. But if you stack an organization full of people who have an MBA but no brain or character to speak of, that's what you get.
