Zero Dark Thirty - Half an hour in here, does it pick up? Or is it the usual dull-ass Oscar contender?

Felt like a TV special to me. I question the value of it having Lottery funding, tbh.
A distinctly middle of the road 6/10 for me. And I consider myself an Alan fan.
I even like the fact I know someone at work called Dan, so I can call after him in the corridors. But not too loudly in case he hears me, thus ruining the gag.

The Last Stand - Dumb action flick but perfect weekend viewing. Get a few drinks in ya and give it a go.

Yes it was a bit weak especially the ending.

Get Carter (2000) - Just... Why? How, even? Awful.

Men in Black 2 - Has the occasional funny line but everything else (including the CGI) is coasting. Even the editing is crap!

Rented Kick Ass 2 yesterday - disappointing, considering the excellent (IMHO) first film. There was none of the charm and dark humour of the original, with a rather odd and lame sub-story with Mindy (AKA: Hit Girl) trying to fit in with the "In-crowd" at high school. The normally-brilliant Christopher Mintz-Plasse couldn't save it. The only decent character in it was Jim Carrey's, now I never thought I'd say that about a film!

A generous 4/10 for me.

The in-crowd bit is in the comic - it doesn't do much more than pad out each issue. The whole idea I suspect was that since they'd called it Hit Girl specifically they thought they'd give her a bit more character. Or try to.

I wasn't that impressed with the first; if it hadn't been for Nic Cage I'd have stopped watching it!

I only caught the first one a couple of weeks ago when it was on Film 4 and thought it was a refreshing take on the superhero genre - sadly, much of what was different in that film was absent from this one. Hadn't seen the comics so wasn't sure if the 2nd film was based on them.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - it's decent but very hamstrung by the fact it's clearly just an introduction. James Franco looks like he's passively smoking cannabis as usual.

The Corruptor - Not a bad film considering it stars Mark Wahlberg but it's a bit too long.

It got me wondering; this film was made in 1999, a good few years before Infernal Affairs (subsequently remade as The Departed), and deals with very similar themes. I'm wondering how much plagiarism went on, though I'm not very knowledgeable about Asian police dramas...

Oh, and don't go streaming it off Lovefilm. Anything light touches in the film strobes like mad; it looks like it was transferred off an especially sh1tty cassette

I've seen plenty of foreign language films "remade" for the American market. whilst not strictly plagiarism, it smacks of it to me.

I enjoyed it a lot. More interested in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as a result.
