I wonder if they will start large trials of this? With the high cost of caring for such patients this could save millions in care costs, as patients might actually die of other causes before they become to costly to support.

You missed a trick Amnesia. You forgot to ponder about their grandchildren now inheriting 6 months later and not being able to buy a house because of this.
