Thank God. I'd have been up all night worrying.

I never let things like that bother me. If anything I will take my time and decide if moving it there is really the right decision. The boxes that were in the corner were moved to somewhere else so I could get at them more easily and it meant that now moving the desk was an option. It has some benefits I now have better access to my window and can see out more easily.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Gonna have a meeting with the bosses tomorrow about some of the issues I've raised in my letter. I've just written my letter of resignation to retain as the nuclear option.

Red was taken into hospital today and is having his appendix removed as I write. There are some odd blood and urine test results which means they are having a bit of a gander at other things inside him while they're in there but he should have been back from recovery at 23:00 and there's still no sign of him. The Night Sister has my home number and said she would call when he gets back to the ward, I don't want to be annoying, but I also don't want to risk her forgetting or losing my number. I'm a bit worried but also very tired and I'm trying to stay awake until I know he's ok.

He's back from theatre, it was more complex than we hoped, but he's fine. *phew*

Thanks :-) He's been emailing me this morning and seems in fine spirits, the bad pain is gone, he's just a bit sore around the incision. Still waiting to hear when he can come home, hoping it's today even with open surgery instead of keyhole!

Surely they'd keep him in a couple of days after open surgery?

Hope Red's doing better. Appendicectomy is always an emergency operation and can vary from being straightforward (as it can be for such surgery) to complex (appendix could have ruptured, insides could have been filled with pus, could have been other findings etc).

Not sure if he'll be home today. I imagine it was an emergency admission and hence such people tend to be more poorly and take longer to recover than say day surgery patients.

Yep :-( They've had to put a drain in so he's in for at least another day. He is at least allowed a drink now and since he's not in pain any more he's quite cheerful about the whole business and is catching up on his reading. Visiting hours are a bit restrictive, I can only visit from 7pm-8pm, but we're chatting on email so it's not too bad. Surgeon will be visiting him later so we should get a bit more detail about why he was in for so long, but I'm pleased that he's out of pain now.
