I've had two Xbox One controllers fail now (left analogue stick), one of which I had to pay the postage to return and the other which I had to buy, then be refunded, only in two parts as the Microsoft Store have "ran out of discount codes." Huh?

I've got no confidence right now that the replacement two controllers will be any better so I've blogged about it to track my experience.

Indeed. The Black Pearl one is 'complete in 120 issues', so assuming there's one a week it's going to take nearly 2.5 years to get all the bits. I'd imagine most children would have lost all interest long before then.
Mind you, there's obviously a market for this stuff going on the number of them out there.

I think the real market is home hobbyists. Some might be doing a number of these. Though the people who might actually do these sorts of models might actually be more skilled and make them from scratch. The fact that they keep coming out with them means that there must be a significant number who start. Whether they finish is another matter.

Went on the Surfanic site to buy a jacket for my little one. Found one I like available in age 4. Clicked the size chart to check and the chart starts at age 5-6. Brilliant.

Presumably your little one will eventually reach the age of five? It might be a little large for a year, but you've saved buying another one when the child inevitably grows.

That's how I buy clothes for my boys. Big, and let them grow into them so we get our moneys worth.

She's only just turned four and is small for her age so the appropriate age would be big/last anyway.

In some ways that's even worse than the TV chef 'restaurants' and what have you in airports.

I think that those that are buying this are food snobs, or wealthy enough to think they are. While sourdough bread is nice it is time consuming to make. It has to be prepared overnight and even then takes time. Even ciabatta has to be prepared the day before, unless you use a bread mix.

I have seen recipes for hand made butter and it seems ridiculously easy. I might even try it myself one day. Would I pay that price for jam on toast? Probably once just to see what the fuss is about but never again.

I did see someone make it by putting about a pint of double cream and a pinch of salt in a food blender and then setting it on full until it looks utterly inedible. Throw it out onto a clean cloth and wring it until no more liquid runs out. What's left inside the cloth is essentially butter.
