King, developers of the phenomenally successful game Candy Crush Saga, is attempting to oppose The Banner Saga's use of the word "saga' claiming it is "confusingly and deceptively similar" to game titles previously used by King.

Basically, an In App Purchase app creator who happens to stick the word “saga” at the end of its games titles doesn’t like the use of the word “saga” by another developer.

Considering the etymology of the word 'Saga', I think a Norse themed story based adventure game has a shedload more rights to the word than a sodding match three puzzle game.

While I do understand their need to protect their IP, I do not think that they are doing it properly. Trying to copyright generic english language words is ridiculous. The combination of all three is acceptable but that is it. The fact is that it looks like a games called bejewelled, and I am sure that was based on an earlier game so where is the IP in the game?
