I'd be happy if they were banned over here. I was actually glad that our old dog died last year and didn't have to suffer through the week of fireworks. Luckily it doesn't bother the new dog, she slept through the whole thing.

I do think that it should be banned except on set days. Then anyone with nervous pets only has those days to worry about.

Sony’s Failboats are still being made.

My PS+ account renewed the other day. I got the usual duo of emails from Sony (Sony Entertainment Network) - one to say that my wallet has been topped up, and another to say that my PS+ account had been renewed.

Topday, I get another email from PSN saying that my update had had failed because they couldn’t charge my card (odd, I updated the card when I bought a game from them in December). If my card had failed, then surely the payment made the other day would have failed?

Anyway, I checked on my PS4. The free games I downloaded from PS+ have been locked. However, when I go to renew my account, it says it’s good up to 2015.

So now I have to work out what is going on.

[edit]
Oh, my. It gets worse. In my SEN account section, the Media part lists all the games I’ve downloaded. All are set to expire in 2015. So my membership is clearly OK, but something has failed to tell my Playstations. :(

Oh - a response from Sony. Will the be helping?

Err - they gave me another email address to use. So no "we’ve referred this to the correct department” message. I use the email address their support site gave me too.

Is it a fail boat fleet they are launching?

Feels like it. I’ll see what the next email I get says.

While I wait for the rotting, bloated corpse that is Sony’s support to get back to me, I had a look around my PS4 settings. There’s an option buried deep down there to restore licenses. Not obvious, and no hint at the top level where the games are just identified as “locked”.

So the games from PS+ on the PS4 don’t do this automatically. I have not tried on the PS3 yet.

When I’m next on my PS4, I’ll post where this is in the gamers forum.

It seems strange that the left hand does not seem to know what the right hand is doing. This really should be a relatively seamless issue for the customer. Sony needs to check that your card is current and that you can pay for the subscription, but beyond that the remaining issues are all internal. While yours could be a very isolated incident the more this happens the more that customers will be cautious of dealing with a company that cannot get simple things sorted.

UK government will unblock websites after adult filter blunder

Quote:
Shortly after the UK government implemented a nationwide adult content filter, it transpired that it wasn't just naughty sites you couldn't access. Copyright blogs, relationship education sites and even women's crisis centers were all marked as being dangerous for family viewing. After much hand-wringing, the government has admitted the error, and is now working on a whitelist of sites that shouldn't be censored. At the same time, there are plans to develop an appeals system -- so that we can all go back to reading about James Earl Miles Jr. without fear.

There is invariably a rush at the last moment for many items.

I'm using the Synology app on my iphone to stream films to my iphone. If the file is in a non-ios format (essentially not in m4a or whatever) it wouldnt stream without third party player. Up until now this never really worked. Until today, which is great.

Stupidly, the DS video app has tried to name certain films. Anchorman comes up with the anchorman title, a description and matching picture. It has also managed to workout that some of my series cartoons are in a series and labelled them as suc so I can click on say thundercats and it will display the episodes in order.

Where it fails is where it can't work things out. It has decided to give a group of films the name Blue Movies with the description of "Tells the tale of a pornography studio in the San Fernando Valley working to create a film to win the AVN award for best picture, pornography's highest honor. "

Can you work out what the films might be? Two of the films are rated 15 and one is 12. They were all released at the cinema mainstream and would have been advertised well.

Have a think.....

....here come to answers....

Mr and Mrs Smith (just because it has mr and mrs in the title?)

Iron Man (seriously?)

40 year old virgin (okay could see that one!)
