So that's the 1.8 single proc or dual? Congrats, anyway, it's still better than my machine!

Good stuff! Like I say, worth buying from Crucial. Never had any issue with using their RAM, which is something I can't say about some of the 'generics' I've tried in the past. Which GFX card does it have in it? The 9600?

Noo... only a 64mb somethingorother.
I guess i'll find out tomorrow when I take it apart! Muha =D
I'm stuck at my parents house currently without monitor, keyboard or mouse (Except for a wireless mouse which might not work with a Mac).
Though hopefully i'll be able to raid a keyboard from somewhere and use the TV as a monitor ^_^

With regard to the RAM question, I've got a dual core G5. It started out with 3GB and was very nippy doing anything I wanted it to do. Then I went a bit nuts and filled the rest of the RAM slots to give me 11GB and there was bugger all noticeable difference in performance (at least with the stuff I use it for). In summary then, unless you are planning on doing something that will seriously max out the RAM or you fancy having many many applications running concurrently then something between 2 and 4GB will be more than sufficient.

My MacBook Pro runs nicely on 3GB. My MacPro seemed to be a bit choppy with the base 2GB which it shipped with. I upped that to 6, and it’s much, much faster. I think I’ll could throw more RAM into it eventually as some apps I have run much better if they have RAM (Photoshop is one, I’m sure Final Cut would be happier with more RAM too).

I guess i'll start procuring RAM slowly.
I need 1GB sticks to get the best of it, and it has to be DDR (not cheaper DDR2, which is very annoying).

There's some DDR (PC3200, 400MHz) in my local paper if you're interested. There's 2GB (2x1GB sticks) going for £25. Or there's 256MB sticks of PC3200 going for £8 each. If you're interested in either give me a shout and I can post them to you. I have no idea what it's going for new, so apologies if that's not actually a good price!

The 2x1GB sticks are £25 for the both? That's pretty damned awesome...
If you could give me the details for the ad i'd be very grateful =)

I assume so! The guy's phone number is: 07885 952570. The description says the sticks are new too. Tell him/her you saw their ad in the West Briton.

Cheers for that matey, just bought them =)
He kindly listed them through ebay for me and I payed via paypal. Total cost £29 including postage.
Which is pretty good I think. Checking prices out they're about £47 for a 2GB pair on average.

Ironically the RAM will arrive tomorrow, as the Mac arrives.
I wish UPS weren't so crap at their customer relations. I mean really, if you're not going to deliver something you promised to deliver, then at least have the decency to tell me!
I stayed in all day Thursday, it didn't arrive. Turns out it was delivered to my old address (which, fair enough, that was probably my fault). So I got it redelivered to where I am now. They promised it would be here Friday. So I stayed in all day Friday. It didn't arrive. I phoned, they said there was an error, so it'll arrive Saturday, which I thought was a bit strange but didn't really question it. Same happened Saturday. Same has happened today.
So i've got to stay in all day tomorrow as well. That's 5 days I can't leave the house, and 4 of those days because UPS don't have the decency to tell me they've cocked up with my package.
GAH
If they don't deliver it tomorrow then I won't get it until... Ooh.. the 21st July? Ish. You see Wednesday morning i'm heading off to Leeds to perform in an opera, get back friday, at which point i've got a few hours here before I head back up to Leeds (this time in the car) so I can move into my new house. I'm not taking anything valuable as i'm off to France for another week, then the weekend I get back I have work. Only when my parents come up to Leeds for my graduation (21st) will I get the thing!
