I was watching a Horizon last night and (I think it was) 'Sour Times' popped up on the soundtrack. hadn't heard that in years.

From Mr Grohl and special guests, came about after he got his hands on the legendary Sound City mixing desk. Not bad so far.

Urgh. The above has descended into acoustic moping with a looped drumbeat for the most part...

Artists and idealists can talk all they like about how good new music is only a few clicks away, but it's only the odd 'single' at best because next to nobody makes good albums any more so nobody really cares! The net killed the 'personality' of music and the industry in so many ways

I think that happened even earlier with compilation albums.

Nah, I would still buy albums long after they'd become popular, but incredibly rarely today. Few bands have any longevity today and you know that from the get-go.

I think that the labels now want an instant return and since new acts are ten a penny they really do not invest the time and effort with acts like they used to. It might also be down to the fact that most acts now are very middle class and barely have any angst that makes great songs.

The Glitch Mob - Think of a local dance act that uses 80's synth riffs alongside the technical trickery of Tinie Tempah etc. It's not bad actually, but it all just sounds a bit derivative at my age, really.
