That was all I needed to know. Most of the time I would be using it at home so would not need the 3G then. When I am away from home I always have the phone nearby so would hopefully tether it and so could probably dispense with 3G and the extra £60 it would cost me. Thanks you have saved me £60. All I need to do is wait till it is released and then buy it through the X404 store.

Instead of watching the new Last Leg I've decided to watch a QI repeat

It's not a bad QI as it happens. The Last Leg had a fantastic Adam Hills rant though.

You've got NoScript and FlashBlock for that. It doesn't block the advertiser, just videos and scripts, they can only serve you static ads.

http://eoimages.gsfc.nasa.gov/images/im ... ty_lrg.jpgJust stand on MArs a little while guys and imagine the distance between Mars and that point of light in the sky. I just got all shivery. I think this is one of the most important photographs ever taken, it amazes me how people can just accept it as being something cool to look at on Facebook for a few seconds. It deserves contemplation.

Setting up the car club. We’re trying to formalise it - take payments (so far a small number of us have been shouldering costs - that’s not right, and venues are asking for insurance etc. now, so we’ve got to start charging a membership fee). The problem is that the people actually steering this thing seem to be ver non-IT aware. I’ve got a payment system set up, and I’ve asked them to test it. So far, they’ve not done so. One seems to be having email problems. My worries are that something that should be “for the fun of it” is starting to look more and more like work. I guess some people’s work is so different organising a club that there is a major difference. My concern is that it’s just looking more and more like work, with people piling on the pressure to get stuff done by a deadline.
I’m doing what I can, but *surprise* I’ve been getting a few job enquiries over the last couple of weeks from new and existing clients. Just a bit miffed that when I ask for stuff to be checked and tested, they aren’t, and I’m asked if I’m ready to go.

Not sure what kind of car club you're setting up but the ones I'm a member of are either free or rely on donations, usually via Paypal. Certainly I've seen clubs change hands as it can be quite onerous and it depends on the level of input from members. Some are more than willing to help out and others just want to go along for the ride. But completely agree that you need to be IT-savvy to do things the modern way.

I was secretary of the Austin Healey Car Club New Forest back in the 80s /90s. That cost a lot to run. You can't get around things like insurance and an AGM. It is a lot of work.

We’re not helped by a small group of vocal people who think it should all be free and if we get everyone joining, we’ll have £10,000. The problem with that is it’s affecting how one of the people in our “setting up committee” are making decisions. We did a survey of all those on our email list, and the vast majority support a membership fee to support the efforts. Mind you, when there are only 4000 cars in the UK, and we have 10% of those on our list, we must be doing something right.

Something else on my mind now. My dad needs cataracts removed. This was expected as it’s a side effect of the drugs he was being given when he was having surgery for his colitis. He’s been recommended to be seen soon as it will affect his violin playing (he needs to be able to read music, see the conductor, etc). I’m rather pleased this has been accelerated because of what is effectively a hobby (a life-long one - he’s always been played in orchestras).

Stock reconciliation - There's none physically in stock
- The Audit trail adds up to zero
- The Location records add up to 64 in stock
- The Audit for the in-stock pallet adds up to 64

I have loads of amazon vouchers but apart from waiting for the next Kindle Paperwhite I need to think what else I want.
