They do need a restructure but they do not need to pay stupid money. Promote from within and recruits specialists in logistics to get their deliveries so that they can offer a just in time restocking service to stores and then they could thin out the numbers of products they sell. They should try adopting the Aldi model rather than the other supermarkets. Even the US giant Walmart is struggling. They are facing shutting hundreds of stores in the US. I doubt that Asda are doing much better here. Tesco are in trouble, so are Sainsbury. Marks & Spencer are doing okay, only the German discounters and Waitrose are doing well. There are not enough people for them all to follow the Waitrose strategy. Government economic policy is hollowing out the middle classes and in ten years time there will not be enough to maintain all the big chains.
