Spent a chunk of yesterday on the Elder Scrolls Online. So far it mostly feels like playing a regular Elder Scrolls game, just that I can see other people running around. No idea if this is normal for MMO style games as I've not played one before, but it works fine for me.

I've been playing loads of stuff recently, mainly because of a growing Steam library and a Windows 8.1 partition on the Mac:

Deadlight
Trine 2
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Gone Home (finished)
To The Moon (finished)
Don't Starve
Walking Dead 400 Days (finished)

The wife is working nights tonight though so I'll probably be on GTAV (PS3) in the lounge!

Mainly Empire at War as I can do a galactic war in a couple of hours by auto resolving planetary battles.

Far Cry Classic trial - I'm sure it was the shizzle back then, but games have come a long way since. I hated the way you were continually bumping into some bit of scenery, and you can forget about an accurate distance shot even with an M16. And yet your enemies don't have that problem!

'Stealth' is a load of nonsense as you've no option but to kill everyone in front of you or one mistake/gunfire will lead to an entire troop hunting you down anyway. Not easy to judge either since you don't know when the game will decide your shooting's too loud or you've just crept into view.

The game was ahead of it's time in a lot of respects but it's dire now. Oh, and regarding the series they really need to sort out vehicle controls...

Catlevania 2 demo - Great, except for the QTEs! There is no quicker way to kill a game's buzz than to repeatedly play a timing game every five minutes :x

Machines at War 3 Demo. Not bad but probably not worth buying.

Strider - Not bad, certainly easier to play than the original, but there's bugs in it and I get the impression you'll eventually encounter a boss that'll make you wanna smash the controller since I encountered two just in the demo (though they were easily defeated).

There's no way to skip cutscenes which is a real pain when the checkpoints can be crap. It'll be free on Plus or dirt cheap soon enough. It's basically a PS2 game tbh.

Currently playing Medievel Battlefields and New World Colony on the iPad. Both are good strategy programs.

Sim City. Not as bad as I'd been made to believe it is really. I've played it for 8 hours and I haven't felt the need to moan about the city size or the online aspect.

Only game I've played recently is Triple Town. Also the only game I paid for on Android (in app purchase of infinite moves for 1.99€).

The Lego Movie demo - same as all the other Lego games, just with different characters. Does have weird cutscenes though (might just be the demo); some look like stop-motion, others look like low-res film cuts, others a mixture of the two :?
...

Blood Knights demo - It's about ten much better games rolled into one, and done cheaply at that. Has hilariously bad dialogue and accompanying face movement. Dire.

Guacamelee - It's basically Aladdin if you remember it, only with slightly more contemporary humour. The level layouts can be a bit annoying though, loads of people to talk to and too many avenues for you to go down sometimes. It's a bit dull somehow :?

Had to give up. It's yet another indie game where you have to jump from an exact point, perform a special move to gain more height, change dimension and hope you land on the tiny platform that has now appeared. That's especially bad when there's a delay with the button presses sometimes. And that's one of the easier parts.

Sorry, but life's too short for that sh1t, and there's better games that don't essentially roadblock you for longevity

Just started playing Thief (the new one) - not far into it but it's quite enjoyable.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows demo - Out of the PS1 era would be more like it. £12 they want for it and EVERYTHING about it is awful. It still doesn't work even after it was delayed for months.

Batman Blackgate demo - I liked what I played (grappling brings with it lots of different animations in this version), though the demo doesn't actually let you go indoors. It's a little weird getting used to the forced perspectives too. I'd only ever buy it at around £4 no matter what...
