Apple reportedly plotting radical overhaul to rescue iTunes from onrushing stream train

http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and ... in-1241231

I'm not so sure streaming is really the big problem. The rise of Android on phone and tablet, declining music sales overall and a bloody lack of good music however... The first thing I'd do is make an Android app!

There's no lack of good music at all.

It's just that I only really need one copy Walton's Spitfire Prelude & Fugue

The fundamental issue surely is though that music sales were declining before iTMS came along, they rose a bit and now they're declining again. That suggests to me that the effect of the iTMS (and other competing services) was a blip and that the long term trend always actually was that sales are dropping. This isn't a collapse of sales, this is a regression to the mean.
