Morning all. Visiting the dentist shortly and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need something other than a regular check up Ah well, never mind.

Morning all. Currently doing my best to catch up on 2.5 years of terrible sleep whilst the Wench is away with the boys. In other news, I really need to find a new avatar as my old hosting has long since elapsed.

I have telephone and Internet again!
Some idiot with an excavator crushed the cables on Tuesday evening!
The telephone company have been working hard and have a temporary solution in place, although speed is still limited (8mbps), but at least I am back online.
Typical, Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, before going to work, I was supposed to help a friend write an English cover letter for a proposal he had to send to a client in America... No internet made researching American formal letter layout difficult! I managed in the end, using my smartphone to research and my desktop to type up the letter, then USB stick to my tablet to send it by email.

Went up the Piesberg, which is the highest part of the Wiehengebirge ('mountain' range running from where we are across Portal Westfalica) in the Osnabruck region yesterday. There is an arboretum there with a 130 or so year old sequoia tree (red wood pine). They are rare outside of north California. The one here is already over 80 metres high and has a circumference of around 8 metres.
The weather was fine and we could see a long way.
On Saturday I went to a party outside of Hannover and we drove along the foot of the mountain range most of the way.

Afternoon all, Talk about a wasted morning. Went into work to invigilate an exam, but the students didn't turn up. Went to a work based learner, to do an exam, but because someone had taken the laptop I planned to take, (these exams have to be booked onto specific laptops, and won't appear on any other machines) I had to quickly book the exam on the spare laptop. Arrived on site and sat around for two hours, doing nothing, as the exam wouldn't download. Gave up in the end and agreed with the student that someone will be back next week to do the exam. He didn't mind, but I did. Completely wasted morning. On the bright side, the wife got her promotion, so she's now in charge of the apps team. This probably means that I won't get my transfer, (to the same team) even though there is no policy in place to prevent it, and as such I'll probably have to get a new job. Oh well, sith happens. Have a great day everyone.
