Looking at trading my Verso down for something a little smaller and more economical. The high profile means it is a bit of a gas guzzler. I'm looking at swapping it in for a newer Citroën C3 1.4L Exclusive - a pre face lift model from mid 2012.

I read mixed reports, but it is one of the few cars that appeals to me at the moment. It is a little soft in the corners, but for a small car, I doesn't seem too bad. I also like the panorama windscreen.

I know two people who've bought Citroens in the last few years. Both have had reliability issues.

Not sure exactly what the issues were, they weren't huge issues, but they did require trips back to the dealer.
One of them is a C2, I'm not sure what the other one is.

I've had issues with the Verso as well, although 2 were down to the garage - they didn't put the cap back on the oil filler and they didn't redo the seals on the brakes after bleeding them. The radio packed in and was replaced under guarantee, then the brake master cylinder was faulty and was replaced by a redesigned unit - they replaced it without question, but there was no recall.

Had to get the rear left lighting unit resealed on our C1, which is a common fault, but other than that it's been a fantastic little car. Would much rather drive it to the Picasso we have. It also fits my enormous frame into the front seats without issue.

Citroen's recent efforts have been quite stylish when it comes to small cars.
As much as I like Toyota's, their Aygo's and Yaris's look terrible compared to some small European cars.

Hmm... it does depend on what you want from the car.

However, I would really struggle to find a reason to put the C3 ahead of the Corsa, Fiesta, Clio or Swift.

The current Fiesta's are supposed to be really good, from what I hear anyway.

They are - but not quite as good as the Corsa

I wouldn't touch an Opel Corsa, I've had nothing but trouble with Opel over the years. The Swift I drove was really basic, all hard plastics and really a small car feel, there is only one used one in my area. There is not a single Clio in my price range in the area! The Fiesta is quite nice, but I just didn't feel comfortable in it.

Drove the other half's 'new' (2005) Micra today, that was a fun little car to drive.

The number of people you know who have had issues with Citroen had just doubled! Both Mrs V and I have had electrical problems with our cars. The Xsara Picasso and C3 respectively.

I'll never buy another French car.

Yes, I was surprised how much room there was in the C3, compared to the Yaris and it felt more roomy than the Fiesta. The other half's Micra is also very roomy.

:| Wow - that's a sentence I never thought I'd read.

I don't know what you do to your tech, buddy, but no matter what you buy or try, you seem to have the opposite experience to most other people.

Mind you, I'm the guy who likes Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone

It reminded me of driving my first cars, back when I past my test, cars you could throw around and have fun in, but not powerful and not especially fast, but fun on windy roads.

I like Windows 8.1 and I love my Lumia 1020.

And that is a big plus for the Citroën over my Verso, my Lumia works with it!

The thing is that I've tried the C3 and it felt fantastic to drive - so very comfy.

However, they might as well sell it with a red nose as standard - it will fall apart.

I agree on both points, although it's only the electrics I've had problems with.
