SWMBO got a new htc M8 phone and naturally wanted all the existing data (esp contacts ) transferred over from her old htc One

Could they do it – nope!

Why didn't they use the built in app that HTC provide for doing exactly that?
At worst they move it to the google account linked to the old phone, then move it back to the new one from there.

They couldn't get the two phones to pair via bluetooth(although I had no issues at home) and said the google link would take to long

Isn't there a PC/Mac app that would do it... I'm thinking along the lines of KIES, for Samsung or PC Companion, which the Sony uses. Surely HTC must have something similar?

There is thc's own answer to iTunes and thats what I used at home - backed up the old phone and then restored to the new phone

Doesn't HTC have something like the Samsung app which transfer data between two phones via nfc?

Nor sure if it's NFC or whether it's uploaded to a HTC server then downloaded too the new phone, but yes, they have an app for that

Some member of The Braincell Trust previously decided to cut the power to the oven rather than adjust the setting beforehand. Cue me using the bottom section of the oven and burning plastic implements some genius had tucked away in the top section. I mean what sort of spastic... :x :x :x

Then superglue the plug to the router in the wall, then your dad can't unplug it! :D

Firefox 29!

Switches tabs above address bar, takes away option to move it back. Install add on to remedy but PIA to use and looks wrong anyway. Decide to concede and go ahead with tabs on top, but now bookmark toolbar icons have disappeared. Goodbye firefox, hello Chrome.

Any other browsers I could be considering whilst I'm still in a transitioning mood?

Gastro bugs

Been bed ridden past 2 days with one, missed an evening out bowling with friends and a trip to Derby to see some other friends thanks to it :(

Think it's all down to someone either not having proper bathroom hygeine (not exactly hard in an office) or something from public transport

I find I am using IE more and more. Mainly because it is the only half way usable browser on my tablet.

Firefox have decided that they don't want to service users who use touch devices and Chrome in Modern mode is not touch friendly and just tried to look like Chrome OS. Born are also incredibly slow compared to IE on an Atom tablet.
