When I used to work as a junior doctor, in my very first year, I wore only plain white shirts and plain black trousers. The only thing I varied was my tie and this was abandoned when "bare below the elbows" policy (something which was made up by infection control nurses but has no evidence base) came into force. The idea behind my "uniform" was that essentially if there was any bodily fluids on my clothing, I could just chuck it away and get another item cheap rather than attempt washing/dry cleaning etc.
But after that first year, I became more adept at avoiding contamination and along with the advice of female colleagues, started wearing colourful shirts - initially solid coloured shirts. Now I prefer to wear striped ones from the likes of Hawes & Curtis in a variety of colours.

The tie is the most useless nasty piece of conformist clothing ever and I won't work anywhere that would insist I wear one. Since I left school and no longer had to wear school uniform (back in 1979) I have worn a tie a grand total of three times. Once for a funeral and the other two times as a joke.
And don't get me started on polo shirts. The "smart casual" look that is neither smart nor casual. You might as well stick a name tag on me and then take me out back and shoot me.

Anything that helps to minimise individuality I'm totally against. Current 'dress codes' say more about how pointlessly conservative society is than anything else, to my mind. I believe you pretty much need permission to take your jacket off in parliament, for instance. That's just ridiculous.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WeegieNot at all confusing, especially the Hun bit (I'm familiar with that as you'd imagine, but attaching it to Rangers is a new one on me).

I wear the scruffiest clothes I have for work. There's no point wasting good ones when they'll just be ruined by the rig washing machines.

Fried I have worded in a call centre for a bit. He had to wear suite and tie, because management felt it would make people apply a more professional attitude towards their work. There was no contact with the public apart from via the telephone.
