A Prayer for the Dying - Mickey Rourke as an IRA man? It should have been atrocious (his accent sometimes is), but it's a watchable little revenge thriller the way they used to make...

Cop Out - The most contrived comedy ever, possibly. It's obvious where Kevin Smith's heart was, but it's just an excuse for cliches and movie references.

Black Rain - It would be great if this got remade; great location and settings, nice set-up... The problem is the film's too bloody long for it's thin story. The Ridley Scott/very talented others' production-values are the only thing holding it together, sadly.

I've seen this a couple of times, but it's a long time since I last saw it.
I'm guessing I need a refresher viewing, but the last time I saw it I really enjoyed it (last viewing was before I moved over here).

Get Peter Jackson to remake it. There's a trilogy waiting to happen.

Elysium - it's worth a watch, but the second half is just generic action where the first had real pace.

The Deadly Game - My apologies beforehand, but this is one of these English thrillers where there's nothing but double-crosses. Every English actor you've ever seen is in it, everything's shiny, you know the drill...

Just looked it up on imdb and wouldn't touch it with a bargepole. As soon as it says 'British Crime Thriller' I feel like I've seen it before. I think once you're seen, say, Layer Cake, it's not worth bothering with any others.

Constantine - I'd never seen all of this before. Considering it hasn't got much of a plot, it at least keeps it together by being well-paced and having CGI that still stands up today (even with dubious streaming). It's not amazing by any stretch of the imagination and Keanu is playing Keanu as usual, but it's nowhere near as bad as some would claim.
...

The Heat - 'It's got a sweary, overweight woman - that's funny, right?'

I quite enjoyed Constantine at the time. I do feel it would have been better as a multi-part story eg TV series.

I thought the comedy came from the observational comments directed at the uptight FBI character, and the slapstick nature of their partnership.
A fat, sweary woman is not what I was laughing at when I saw the film.

I didn't find either character funny no matter what situation they were in tbh.

No man, me either, it was their interaction together that made the humour.
I guess you just weren't that in to it.

I'd rather sit through 'The Heat 2: The Heatening' than the new Batman film.

Odd Thomas

It was a fair interpretation of the book but they missed so much out. It could've been longer but from what I've seen on IMDB comment boards it may have got people interested in reading the books which can't be a bad thing.

They missed out some key characters but overall I enjoyed it.
