Right, make this quick as I want to go to bed.

Me and a few mates are on about starting a band up, but money constraints mean we can't afford a drum kit. :( I can play drums, but don't have any.

On a game called Frets on Fire, if you mod it you can make basically a full drum kit out of a few keyboards and a PS2 controller. This is good, but the variations on stuff sucks. :(

Is there any software out there where I can map a certain drum to a key, if you get me?

Cheers. :)

You can map drums using midi (most PC's can do midi emulation).
Cubase or Logic for the mac will do it.
FL studio might also be able to do it.
You could probably use garageband as well.

Most rehersal studios have kits in for practice

Although like cubase & logic it'll be cheaper to buy a drumkit

Or there's the USB drum kit you can buy in PC world for £120!

Other than that, Hydrogen lets you program drum patterns and lets you download different kits from the website. It's available on linux, but may be available in Darwin Ports too...

Without wishing to sound patronising, isn't bally a child? ;) :P

I wish I'd had £120 to spend when I was his age, (14 isn't it?)

Perhaps the sarcasm didn't come out as expected. That said, Logic Studio is $499, so it wasn't that bad a suggestion! Still, Hydrogen is free.

I wrote my own keyboard-based drumkit in 1st year, could try and hunt it out if you wanted

It wasn't amazing (in fact I may work on it in my spare time when I can as it could be reasonably good esp for a GH:WT drum or something if I could support it)

Ok bally, but I'm fairly sure that you were 14 a couple of years ago... ;)

Gav - Me? Sarcastic? Never!

By the way You are correct, Hydrogen is free. As is Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide and all of the other gases in the atmosphere. ;) :P

Helium isn't though. You have to pay for that.

Cheers everyone,

I chose Cubase, Mixcraft 4 and Audacity to record some stuff. I lent a friends GHWT kit to try it with, mapped buttons etc and it works brilliantly! :)

I might Youtube a couple of creations in a bit, just to show you what a few keyboards are capable of. :)

Also Fin, there's no need to dig your prog out, I seem to be happy with these few for the time being. Thanks anyway. :D
