We need a 21st Century Witch Finder General. How could that go wrong?

It scares me what is happening in the UK now. I was a single male who used to look after children for friends, family and neighbours, when they went out. Now, I would be petrified about babysitting, in case I would suddenly be accused of being a paedophile...

There's a climate of fear now no matter what your role in what you mention, but that was going to be inevitable when the press started talking about paedos, say, a couple of decades ago. Overall, it NEEDED to happen. Even more people would have had their lives destroyed otherwise. We live in a world where mothers let musicians sexually abuse their babies, where the world's largest paedo ring is probably the Catholic church. As a general rule it was covered up no matter who was involved, and so the evil continued, with the victims creating more victims. Is it any wonder people thought they wouldn't be believed?

And they wonder why there are so few male teachers in primary schools. Every so often, this is raised, and the self-evident “men don’t want to be accused of being a paedophile” reason is raised. There are two men who have contact with children in my wife’s school - a teaching assistant, and (when I’m in with the computer lot), me. The only other male presence on the premises is the caretaker.
