So... result? ;)

Nope.

Had a chap call from Hastings yesterday  and another from Coventry today :o . I think some people don't realise just how far away they live from cars they're interested in. I live in North Kent. From Coventry and back must be nigh on 500 miles!

The more I think about it, the more I think selling will be a liability. I have to say, sadly, l'Atomo is destined for the breakers. :|

We live in the Midlands and bought Henry from South London. Red went down on the train to pick him up, so they're not totally mad?!

Hmm, not so sure with this one. He seemed to be confused about crossing the Thames, for a start.

Anyway, last night I made my mind up. I'll take the ad down today, and organise collection by a breakers. It wouldn't be right to sell l'Atomo on with his current niggly issues.

Cheers Caz! I didn't know there were such organisations, and it makes a lot of sense. While it's a lovely idea, though, the cash would be better used in this house.

as long as you advertise it honestly, it's fine to sell it with faults no?

Indeed we sold "R" for Reg the Puma to a young man who was well aware that (the last straw) it had broken down in a summer traffic jam near Camber. I went and repaired the split radiator hose with a bit of plastic plumbing pipe bypassing the heater matrix, which got the car back home. He was willing to do the required work, spend the required money on parts and enjoy motoring with higher than average fuel consumption, road tax and other running costs, not to mention potential breakdowns. He went away happy, as far as we know, with a car he wanted at a price he could afford.

At the price I was hoping to sell (£250) the niggly issues might be fine. I could re advertise it as running, but in need of either a new thermostat, new radiator or head gasket on the way out. It might even just be a hose on the way out, but it could all cost a lot more to resolve than the asking price for the car as is.

That would be the honest thing, but I don't have a lot of time before I need to declare the thing SORN. I am also not in the mood for haggling with potential buyers over this and that. I just want to rid of it so we can move on.

As long as I can find the right breaker, useable parts may live on in other Seicentos in the area - and there are quite a few, believe me!
