I wanted to kick someone to death this morning only with slippers on purely to make it last longer. I'm much calmer now though and understand the kicking to death was a bit harsh. A simple Ebola infection and death in two days resulting from internal hemorrhaging would suffice looking back.

Yes, kicking to paralysis is much more reasonable.

My employee pension contributions have shot up by about 70% which has knocked my take home pay to the same level as when I was a junior doctor in hospital. Fun fun fun! I pay more into my pension now so I can have less pension when I (eventually) retire.

How does it work for you? I currently pay in 2.5% of my salary and my employer pays 5%. I used to pay 6 and employer 12 in previous company, that was great.

Thought I had replied. Basically I was supposed to pay 9%. This went up in April to 12.5% but the practice hadn't increased my contributions so for the following month my contribution went up. It should have been reduced thereafter but hadn't so next month it will be slightly under.
I'm debating whether to opt out temporarily. Even if I opted out for six months, I could save similar to a month's pay. Would help towards deposit. Could always then overpay.

Looks like opting out would mean my taxable income would go up, so I would have less than I thought.

That's reason I'm throwing as much as possible in to my pension to reduce my tax bill

I'd be so much more productive if I wasn't stopped every hour or so to do a job that you could figure out with an ounce of common sense....

Tesco have recently applied their Clubcard Boost to a lot of stuff on Tesco Direct. I've got over £30 in vouchers at the very least and nothing I can justify buying!
It's kind of a good problem to have, but I seem to have it at least once a month...
