Yeah, it's really pretty bad. A few laugh out loud moments, but only because it's so bad.

Even the trailer I saw looked a bit 'parody'.

I'd forgive if it were, but I doubt that was their intention.

From friends re. Guardians of The Galaxy.

"Won't post any spoilers obviously, because only arseholes do that, but GOTG is brilliant. It was pretty much everything I wanted it to be. See it if you like fun! Also space! And trees."

"Just seen guardians of the galaxy....it is the best marvel film EVER!"

It's got Dwane 'the Rock' Johnson in it. Doesn't that automatically make it a parrody?

Watched "Dredd" (finger on the pulse)

Enjoyed it. 7/10 for a brainless actioner, get some popcorn in the pan. Recently voted most "should have a sequel"* after Serenity.

Because "Raid" did and it's the same film but with judges on bikes.

Which reminds me:

watched "Raid" got bored, will finish it when i have nothing else to watch.

There was so much of Dredd that was right, it just needed a slightly bigger story.

I preferred Raid when it was like Die Hard as opposed to a Statham film in the second half.

I disagree with the "needed a bigger story", what it needed was correct promotion, had that happened it would've made much more money and the studio would likely be working on a sequel right now, instead it's wringing its hands hmming and ahhing.

It would have been hard to promote anyway. He barely says a word and 90+% takes place in a towerblock. For fans it's probably as close to comic book Dredd as they'll ever get at least.

They can promote films where motorised vehicles turn in to alien robots, they can promote films where magic and fairies and dragons exist, yet they struggle to promote a film where the main protaganist hardly speaks?
I'm not buying that.
Lazy film promotion is just lazy.

That's just it; Dredd isn't as curious or exciting as any of that, and the character himself is hardly mainstream. That's how we wound up with Sly in the first place. It's probably a minor miracle Dredd ever got made. Those responsible obviously treated it with care. That's a rarity these days.

I wish they would make a sequel - Urban was perfect as Dredd.

Guardians Of The Galaxy.
My record of disagreeing with Ernie remains constant.
Really enjoyed it, good film, please go and see it - if the notion of a spacey sort of actioney movie loosely tied to the Marvel universe appeals, it's great fun.

Agreed, a film with a great deal of emphasis on fun, with a good dose of silliness thrown in. I was also pleasantly surprised by how good Bautista was, half expected a car crash there.

There's also an amusing little cameo from Nathan Fillion in it.
