Chatting with someone about films we've seen recently.
He's just pointed out that Groot in GotG is basically Jesus.

Not having seen it yet, is that a spoiler?

I do plan to go see it this week, everyone tells me it's great.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. Just go and enjoy the movie. :)
I've seen it twice, and it hadn't occurred to me because I wasn't looking for it - this chap is quite Christian, so it's a theme he was familiar with and possibly looking for.

Gay Expendables 3 spoiler?

http://tinyurl.com/qcsv6y2

I thought that scene was just a piss-take :? . I can't say I was paying too much attention to the film at that point, but I think they just hugged and it became a joke.

Quote:
The latest Expendables instalment opened in fifth place at the US box office at the weekend with a haul of just $16.2m (£9.7m). Producers have blamed the weak figures on the existence of a highly publicised high-quality illegal download of the film, but new figures from the piracy-tracking firm Excipio suggest the movie is not even proving particularly popular when available for free.

2 Guns - Watchable, dumb action comedy. Contains Bill Paxton which is always a bonus.

To me, 2 Guns is an indictment of America today. Guns don't kill people…
Just harmless fun or advocacy?

Neither IMO - it doesn't hold back on the gore.

Batman-Superman: Public Enemies - I can't remember if I've watched this before cos I've definitely read the comic and might be getting confused

Anyway, it's not bad, but it's not up there with the best DC animation in any sense. The tone of it is all over the place, and it crams way too many characters in to do anyone justice.

Just saw Lucy.

Save your money.
I feel like I need to have a serious sit down and a chat with Luc Besson about crimes against science fiction.
I'm almost cross about it.

I believe it's one of the strangest films going...

No, it's just bad. Which is a shame, it could've been brilliant.

Actually, you should all read this review. Spoilers be damned, you aren't going to see it anyway.
