I've been watching Perception but I don't know if I'll stick with it. It's incredibly hard to remember it's not Will from Will and Grace you're watching solve crimes. And it's all just a little cheesey... And I watch Arrow

White Collar continues too, though the lead is getting eminently slappable (right down to his rakish hats  ). I've also got From Dusk Til Dawn on the go occasionally too.

I like Perception :)

I've just started Community - 12 episodes in. Very easy to watch with little commitment. It's not going to redefine TV but it's a nice filler when I've literally got nothing else to do.

The Mimic

Currently on 4OD. Gentle British comedy and I like it.

The BBC has absolutely no power in this relationship regardless of their posturing. Top Gear is made by a third party production company that is (I believe) partly owned by Clarkson. The BBC management have no capability whatsoever to get that company to sack Clarkson. I'm not sure it's even legally possible for the production company to do so. The only (and literally the only) sanction the BBC management has is to say 'If you don't take Clarkson off screen, we won't commission any more Top Gear'.

Now, should the BBC not recommission Top Gear, how many other media companies do you think would quite happily pay that company to make it for them? I'd say PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THEM. Top Gear is, if not the biggest, one of the top five biggest TV properties on the entire planet.

So say the BBC actually own the copyright to the name 'Top Gear' and stop the production company using that name (ref: Fifth Gear). If the production company make another TV show, with a different name, but that still had May, Clarkson and Hammond cocking about in cars, how many people who currently watch Top Gear would watch that show? Again, I'd suggest PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THEM. The name 'Top Gear' without May, Clarkson and Hammond is worth pretty much nothing. Before they rejigged the show with them in it, it was a extinct brand.

The BBC have no leverage. They simply don't have the ability to make the company do anything they don't want to. Clarkson knows it, the company know it, the BBC actually know it and anyone who knows anything about telly knows it. The people this press release are for are the kind of people who actually think the BBC is actually still the same corporation it was in the 1950's where all the people on screen are actually on the BBC payroll. The modern reality of the BBC could not be further from that.

The first episode of Ray Donovan was awesome, even if the show needs a better title

The working for The Scum thing always bothered me I have to say. It's not like we didn't know Team Murdoch were scrotes even then.
