I'm totally happy with my 5s. Add to that the lack of a 32GB version 6 and it makes the upgrade a little more expensive. Mark

Although the lens, stabilization and the 40 megapixel sensor on my Lumia 1020 puts the iPhone and my Galaxy phones to shame. The images generally look good on the screen, but when you zoom in, the detail is amazing. The quality doesn't reach that of a DSLR and you don't have the flexibility of different lenses, but the quality blows all other phones I've used or seen out of the water - although the new Lumia 930mis supposed to be a bit better for low light situations.

That is generally the only thing a high pixel-count is good for; cropping the image. If you don't have the optics or the sensor infront of that 40 megapixel sensor then it's just numbers used to lure people to the item, though the Lumia you mentioned does indeed seem to excell at images taken in conditions that other smartphone camers would struggle with, I don't think it's entirely down to the megapixel count. Not entirely, the Carl Zeiss zoom lens and the image stabilization help a lot.

Ill be buying one sim free and getting a three sim only contract with unlimited data. That way makes it over £400 cheaper than getting the phone on the contract.

We only save 10€ a month on business contracts. That means 240€ over 2 years, which is a saving of around 300€ for the 128GB version. That said, the business contracts are overpriced, compared to the MVNOs.

Oooooh NFC, oh Apple Pay only. Puts it out as a potential target device for some of our clients
This isn't even a 2012 device in terms of features, are they going to add support for Flash in the next version then remove it in 3 years time?

I suspect they're being reticent because they want to protect the ApplePay chain. They're probably taking in suggestions from the important app makers about what they'd want to do with NFC and we'll see API updates that allow those things to be done while still obfuscating the NFC hardware. The problem with not telling anybody they were putting NFC in before the public launch is they don't get any feedback from app developers until that point. This isn't even a 1.0 release, it's about a 0.5 beta in effect. The mistake a lot of people make is thinking that features are the only things that matter.

One of our students is very proud of his Chinese no-brand Android phone because it'll do 4k movie recording. I've asked to see what the files look like, because fundamentally it's not what a thing does, it's how it does it.

I love the arguments of "it doesn't do 4k" or "why doesn't it have a 20 megapixel camera" etc...
How many people have a 4k display or will view photos on anything that has more than 2 megapixels?
I'd rather have a few features done well at a time that they're useful than a stupid long list of features hurriedly crammed into a device before they're actually useful to anyone.
