Just watched the last episode. Enjoyable enough, but my original feelings about the modern reboot of The Doctor is that it keeps snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Poor art department aside, I hope there's some big pay off coming. And it better not be space sharks and an intergalactic Titanic with Kylie on board.

Another episode which is "borrowing" scenes from previous, post reboot episodes.
This is turning into a slight worry.

This one seemed to be borrowing heavily from the series Hustle. Still, I enjoyed it, though I was somewhat confused how some people appeared to "get better" at the end (ie not being dead any more). I'll have to rewatch. I may have missed something.

We were trying to decide if it was more Hustle or Mission Impossible. Hustle won out for us as well. During a certain scene Also, during one particular scene, Mrs V and I turned to each other, at exactly the same time and said the same two words... "Praise him!" If it was just me, then fair enough, but for both of us to think that does suggest that they are borrowing ideas from previous episodes, does it not?

I think they should have developed the supporting characters more, it was hard to feel any sympathy for them. For example when woman turned into Clara it wasn't made clear that she couldn't control it.

It wasn't made clear at the point, but a little later in the episode she did say that it was a bit of a curse. I can't remember the exact words, but I'll try and watch it again at some stage today. Assuming I can stop being sick long enough to turn on PC-TV

Has Doctor Who become unsuitable for children? http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/doct ... en-4304006I don’t really think The Mirror needs to ask this question. Who has always provoked criticism for being too scary, but the recent episode Listen is probably the creepiest they’ve made for a long while. Its time slot is getting later too.

That's a link to The Mirror, so I'll give it a miss, thanks The thing is... CHILDREN LOVE BEING SCARED!

Well, I for one was really pleased they did that. Who is MEANT to be scary, and dark, and gothic in deed, and until this series, there has been very little of this. So, good. The BBC have shown that they are capable of doing this, and I really hope that they scare the crap out of everyone next year.

Yep. Ask people what their favourite eps of 'New who' are, and most of them will pick the very few - 'Blink', for example - which actually had some sense of peril to them. Let's face it, nobody's going to remember a pantomime level episode based around Robin Hood in a few years time.

Yes they are, but not for any good reasons. The only good thing about the Star Trek:TNG Robin Hood episode was Worf’s outburst: “I protest, I am NOT a merry man!”. That’s the bit I remember. I don’t like it when series like this descends into pantomime. The Robin Hood episode could have worked if it was not being played for cheesy giggles. This series has had some good things for it. When the “after life” was explained and what the three words were, I thought “that’s nasty” - I also expected it may cause some disturbance amongst the younger audience. However, I remember some aspects of Who scaring me when I was a kid. Thing is, I kept watching. Moffat warned that this series would be darker, and the new Doctor less user friendly. This is how it should be. Hartnell’s Doctor wasn’t particularly nice (actually, neither was Colin Baker’s, though the clown outfit never made me take him seriously). On a SPOILERY note, I’d say that Missy (if she really is who she is, and the Doctor seems convinced) sets a precedent. I think we’ll very likely see a lady Doctor in the future now.

I've very much been dipping in and out of this series depending on what the previews of each episode looked like. I'll probably watch the final one though. I've never seen the problem with having a female Doctor to be honest. if you accept the fact he can change his physiology that much each regeneration anyway, why not? Always said Joanna Lumley would make a great Doctor after she did that 5 minute stint for Comic Relief way back.
