Despite extensive searching I've been unable to discover the origins/meanings/descriptors of this phrase. Can anyone point me to somewhere enlightening? (I'm courting one!!)

Strawberry Blonde is more on the blonde side with a hint of red. Raspberry blonde is red with a hint of blonde. As far as I'm aware anyway

tut tut I'm very smitten and would like to be as subtle and delicate as poss. She's gorgeous. This is a genuine query, where the heck did the phrase come from and why? I know what the difference is between strawberry and raspberry blondes, but google doesn't seem to be sufficiently aware, was hoping the ladies might help out (muchly thanx btw Zippy )

From what I understand that what people who were ashamed of be redheads called themselves, on par with saying hard of hearing instead of deaf

Merci beaucoup m'selle, hadn't thought of that... Mark, yeah but no but yeah - am I alone in thinking that a raspberry blonde is just classier? Maybe not, a blonde is a blonde is a blonde right? But hmm, this lady has more brains than I do...

I dunno, both strawberry and raspberry blonde fit into the whole 'Hyacinth Bouquet' bracket of slight pretention to me. If you're a blonde, say you're a blonde. If you're a redhead, say you're a redhead. Be proud of what you are, whatever that may be. Not sure that comes into it, tbh.

Yes. Hair colour has nothing to do with having class or not, that's down to the person. Stop being so hung-up on the colour and just enjoy the person who wears it. (8+) Mark

Crikey, isn't that a bit like saying there's only one yellow and then it's either orange or red? blimeyo'reilly, I must just be getting old (which I am so don't bother reminding me) 'cos to me there are additional connotations beside the simple colouring in ones. T'was just a curious enquiry, nada mas...
