You probably did. My memory is a bit worn out so it has big holes in it :)

Just read the third Bosch book - The Concrete Blonde. Much better than the first two books. Slightly too long and a twist too far.

A book on Lee Marvin - if the sample's any good I'll get it from the Prime library. If it isn't, one on John Wayne's an option.

I'm currently reading (or re-reading) Harry Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat. I last read it back in the early 80's after it was adapted for 2000AD. It's still very good.

I love the Stainless Steel Rat books - still have them (somewhere) in my library and re-read them every now and then. The Deathworld series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deathworld is also very good

Just read "The Hundred-Year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared" by Jonas Jonasson. I meant to post to say I was reading it on Saturday when I started it, but then I got stuck in and didn't put it down until I'd finished it. Very good read, it is funny and engaging, interesting, historical, involved and the final twists are quite brilliant. The cast of characters is varied and well-explored, the personalities are awesome and the author weaves an excellent narrative.

I'm about to start "The ocean at the end of the lane" by Neil Gaiman, I hope it's good!

Agreed it was a fantastic book. I think it would make a brilliant film too.

Have you read "The illiterate that could calculate" from him? (Translated from the German title, it might be called something different in English) It is about a young South African girl that breaks out of the ghetto and makes something of her life... Very good.

Never read her books but I know she's very popular.

Not so sad news as she had a very very good innings!
