If the discounters get to a point of financial and stock stability, they could start doing store collections before moving online. Tesco's downfall was ridiculous store expansion, especially with pointless Metro stores. Who wants to pay a small fortune in a store that doesn't have half of what you want?

Aldi are looking to open something like 1000 new stores next year. I think at the moment they have something like 9000. Lidl, the other big German discounter is also looking at expansion, but not in such big dimensions at the moment.
