Heather - for the benefit of those of us who haven't got the PDF CMYK trick down, could you let us know how this is done? Thanks.

Boy! Now you're asking!

I'll have to have a dig around and pull up the settings. I can email them to you in due course.

Essentially, it's just a PDF output preset for InDesign, or whatever your pro layout application of choice is. It came to me from a large magazine printers, and it has worked for various jobs I did with other printers.

CMYK and Pantone support are still essential for anyone working in packaging design and artwork. Without them I couldn't take any image editing tool seriously.

The big problem I have with RGB work flows is that they allow inexperienced users to define colour way outside the CMYK printing gamut and then they are invariably disappointed when their printed work comes back looking considerably less vibrant than it did on screen.

And don't get me started on RGB black text...

Using the Pass4Press PDF presets will allow you to create a printable CMYK PDF from document containing RGB elements. IME it does a better job of converting RGB to CMYK than Photoshop - images seem to maintain their out of gamut vibrancy better when converted this way.

Now I come to think of it, I think that's the preset I have.

I totally agree with your comments about spot colours and Pantone. My original comments about mixing RGB and CMYK in a working document until output time were based on almost all of the work I was doing as CMYK or single colour at final output.

I'm now getting a lot of work from clients who have switched to CC so for me the "upgrade" is going to be inevitable very soon.

So which browser actually gives you the best value? I've just had a look in Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome and they all appear to be offering me the same price of £27.34 per month as an ex-CS3 user.

What am I missing?

It is an A/B test and it won't affect all visitors, although Chrome users seem to be the ones that have been affected so far.

Maybe they have also stopped the tests, now that it sh1t as hit the fan.

Opera on the second Mac I tested was unusable for getting CC. I just had a transparent grey overlay over most of the browser window that wouldn't let me click on the pricing button. I'm running the latest version so what's that all about?
