I found the story really dull , enough to stop playing it.

It's a solid game, it just doesn't tip over into 'great' for me.

The game (IMO) really starts when you get to level 18-20.

The story part of the game is only about 9-10 hours long. The best part is running through the strikes and heroic missions. Also the PvP side of it is actually quite enjoyable (and I HATE PvP games).

Agreed. It's actually very much more like an MMO than Bungie have been admitting to. The story mode is barely more than a tutorial.
