As I understand it as the comet gets closer to the sun it will get more light and may power back up again.

That's about the gist of it.
At this stage, I think the scientists and mission control are just kinda hoping that this is what happens, they aren't really holding out any hope of it actually happening, which is why they have been scrambling like mad to try and get as much of the mission parameters coverd as they can in this initial window.

While generally I find things like the shirt he was wearing rather crass, I'm inclined to agree. The man has just been a major part of one of the most complex space missions since the moon landings which will tell us masses of things we didn't know and therefore make us better as a species and you're giving him crap about his effing shirt? What have you done for humanity lately, apart from complain about stuff?
