How the hell would that work? And why even do it in the first place? :?

Oh really. How are they going to force an Amerian based, global company to split up?
The most they could do is affect the european division.

The European Commission has that power, according to the linked article. It also notes that the US has similar concerns.

Some of that might be legit, but I have no problem with Google putting it's services first if they're relevant to what I'm searching for. Google's continual tinkering with their search results meaning you now have to put in an exact combination of words, or scroll through ten pages, is much more of a problem

Also, despite the amusing mis-reporting in the press, they didn't vote to split up Google.

They voted to put a resolution before the commission to consider splitting Google up as a possible resolution to the investigation into Google.

Am I getting it right that they voted to "unbundle" search engines from other commercial activities. So MS would have to unbundle bing as well.
Also if the commission went ahead with this expect a massive battle with the US government and the WTO.

Wasn't this what they wanted to do with MS because of "anti-competitiveness" a few years back?
