Yes, I understand stock in channel, which is why I would expect the update to be free for new purchases! I can understand Apple not recalling all stock, but to expect the customer to fork out an extra €7,99, just because they bought from shop A instead of shop B...
Plus, the store opened at the weekend, so I was expecting that it would have new stock...
If I had bought the iPod before the WWDC, then I wouldn't have a problem with the charge. But that an iPod being registered for the first time, about 3 weeks after the release of 3.0, doesn't automatically get offered the update for free?
My guess is/I'm hoping that, that it is a limitation of the iTunes store and that they will deal with buyers of old stock still in the supply chain on a case-by-case basis...
