Yeah. If we're using a KCl (Potassium Chloride) polymer mud for drilling. We have to let MWD know the potassium content so so they can correct their logs.

If you go to the last page of the ranting thread, and work your way back, you'll probably get bored before you find a page which doesn't have a post from ernie!

You know how you can build up a tolerance? The reverse is true when you're permanently surrounded by idiocy and lunatics.

Just tonight my sister didn't want to make a phone call because she was waiting on a call. This is on a mobile phone with text capability, email... She also managed to stab herself with the pen that checks my nephew's sugar level. So yeah, my tolerance level for stupidity is at an all time low. Oh, and guess who just turned up. No, not Santa ;)

I wasn't having a dig at you, ernie. I was merely pointing out the inaccuracy in bratty's statement. Trust me, if anyone can relate to being related to idiots, it's me!

Apparently, using newspaper to wash and dry your windows is a thing?! I learned about it last night so today I gave it a try on the patio doors and the windows of the mudroom.

I can attest to the fact that using newspaper to wash and dry the windows (using hot vinegar water as the washing medium) gave a really nice, streak-free clean with really minimum effort. The biggest problem was the noise of dry newspaper on a wet window... Even the guinea pig ran to hide!

this is a thing Id assume you would do seeing as you do very crazy activities, like cutting the grass during a rainy thunderstorm whilst neighbours are starting as if WTF? etc

You're correct, I do mow the lawns in the rain and my neighbours do think I'm crackers. Also, I now wash my windows with scrunched up newspaper because I heard about it, it sounds crazy but it works. This is the same reason that we have plastic bags full of water, with pennies in the bottom, hanging in the dining room and kitchen doors during the summer. It sounds crazy, nobody can tell me why it works, but it works!

The newspaper thing is something I've known since I was a kid.

What effect does this achieve?

EDIT: Googled it - http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/flies.asp

I've been using them as well as home-made fly-traps for the past 2 summers, they do seem to make a difference to the number of flies we get in the house which, when surrounded by well-manured fields is invaluable, but I also use them for keeping flies out of the duck and chicken runs and they work pretty well there too. I only have the evidence of our system to go by but they work so I'm not terribly bothered about why.

That the window installer, who installed the electric motors for our roller blinds cannot wire them in! One of the elements in the roller blind slipped and cut through the cable where it enters the motor, shorting it out. They replaced it on Friday, but couldn't reconnect it to the electricity! You need to be a qualified electrician to do that. Luckily I learnt that at school in the UK, so could cable it up myself - although eldest daughter's best friend is an electrician, so we emailed him a photo of the cabling to confirm I had it correct, before I turned the power back on. Worked first time.
