The new series of Cosmos put it into words for me, the domesticated dog has been bred, exists, as an element of human society. They empathise with us and treat us as alphas, they look to us for protection and will defend us and our children from danger. We should be able to live alongside them, and show them the compassion they show us, alone as both species are on this planet, one of a finite number of friends we can make, against a backdrop of an enveloping cosmic darkness.

So don't [LIFTED] eat them. And if you mistreat them it's a sure sign that you're a broken person in my book.

I've calmed down a bit from last night and on reflection there are people on this planet far worse than me but it's still not nice having your bank account emptied by thieving twats the week before Christmas.

Well that sucks. Someone I work with has had that happen to them within the last 2 weeks as well. I trust you'll be getting it all back from your bank.

[LIFTED] Base.com! I'm sick of websites advertising products as in stock when they are not. These bunch of [LIFTED] did it to me once when ordering Metro Redux (via Rakuten) but I was forced to use them again recently as it is the only place I could buy Nintendogs & Cats from for Emily for Xmas.

Unsurprisingly I chased the order after hearing nothing for a few days and got the exact word for word email about obtaining stock as I did with Metro. Now my order is on back order.

Thankfully two have come into stock at Amazon so I've ordered one (at a higher price) and cancelled the Base.com order.

I believe it's more than coincidence that I've used them twice and had the same experience twice.

Also they seem to think the DSR cooling off period doesn't apply to them

Quote:
Where you have already received the goods, you may cancel your order by informing us of this in writing any time up to seven days after receiving the delivery

Yikes. Sorry to hear that. Any idea on how it happened?
One of my colleagues that I used to work with had his account emptied whilst he was on holiday.

No idea. Could be card cloning, could be some computer related nonsense (although I can haz Mac and I don't use my card on dodgy sites) or I could have used the card with someone legit and then they were hacked *cough* Sony *cough*

I've managed to get an overdraft extension so I can at least live until it gets resolved but it's going to be several days so no Christmas party for me!

That's a line of thinking I'd not considered before, and I think changes my opinion on the matter.

dogs are animals, even the most "humanised" ones can turn around and bite to kill.

So can plenty of humans; doesn't mean they suddenly stop being human...

Wondering what your point is? Humans are much more destructive than any animal.

Indeed

just saying there is no reason for dogs to have a special status. All animals are equal in my eyes.

Do you classify humans differently then?

Not in mine. It's a sliding scale from:

Awesome -- Honey Badger
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Twat -- Wasp
