Ebola is a tropical virus. Temperature actually plays a part in these things. The chances of transmission in Glasgow in December are considerably less than in Guinea in December. The cold means the virus survives on surfaces and the like for a much shorter period basically. Plus we have better medical facilities than a lot of the places where it's become an epidemic. One case in the UK stands a very good chance of ending up as one case in the UK, rather than an outbreak.

I'm more concerned about the fellow passengers on the 3 flights she shared her journey with. I believe she changed flights at Casa Blanca and London Heathrow. That must be in the hundreds of people, possibly thousands if you take into account the airport environments I guess, although numbers haven't been confirmed on the news yet. Good luck with tracking down those people.

It's my understanding that Ebola isn't actually contagious until the individual is actually exhibiting symptoms.
By the sounds of it the person in this case only started feeling ill once she was in Glasgow and, given where she'd been and what she'd been doing, went straight to hospital.

Yes, it's a worrying development, but the chances of it spreading under the reported circumstances are actually very low. (He says hopefully, being about 9 miles from Glasgow at the moment).

all NHS personal who have been working/treating patients in an infected area
minimum 14 days isolation on return

all NHS personal transported by military aircraft to and from the area
(not a major problem as the military are already there)

but i believe IMHO the Govt. want and instigate a major disaster such as this

i hope that the nurse regains health ...
